Objective: surpass historic marks
Last year’s TotalEnergies Málaga Half Marathon delivered unforgettable results. With the debut of the new course, every race record was shattered thanks to the outstanding performances of two Kenyan athletes:
This year, the goal is clear: to break those records once again.
A REALISTIC ASPIRATION
It won’t be easy, but the international elite arrives in Málaga with the ambition of surpassing the extraordinary marks achieved in 2025.
Men’s Category
The main favorite for the win is Kenyan runner Vincent Kipkorir, one of the strongest names on the international roster and a clear contender to challenge the course record.
Alongside him, Kenya once again presents a powerful lineup. Other athletes to watch include Daniel Tumaka Kosen, Amos Kipkurui Langat, and Mathew Kipkoech Kipruto, all of them capable of blowing the race wide open if the pace is right.
Ethiopia will also field runners ready to apply pressure from the very first kilometers. Diriba Girma Mamo and Kuma Dejene Debel arrive with personal bests close to the one‑hour barrier, ensuring a fast race from the start.
The traditional Kenya–Ethiopia rivalry will once again be one of the major sporting attractions of the event.
Women’s Category
In the women’s field, the top favorite is Kenyan athlete Winnie Jepkosgei Kimutai, who lands in Málaga with her sights set on surpassing the impressive 1:05:46 recorded last year by Loice Chemnung.
Another standout competitor will be fellow Kenyan Esther Chebet, who will aim to fight for the top positions in what is expected to be a very fast race.
From the European side, Slovenian runner Klara Lukan stands out. She holds a personal best of 1:08:04, set in 2025 in Valencia, and hopes to get closer to the leading group.
A COURSE MADE FOR SPEED
Last year proved it: the new course was a resounding success.
Paseo del Parque will once again become the epicenter of the TotalEnergies Málaga Half Marathon, right in the heart of the city. This iconic location, full of history and atmosphere, will allow runners to enjoy the charm of Málaga’s city center while chasing their best sensations.
The race maintains a completely flat, sea‑level profile—ideal conditions for both elite athletes and recreational runners to achieve personal bests.
