REGULATIONS TotalEnergies MÁLAGA HALF MARATHON 2027

Málaga Sport AD and Sport Life Ibérica, with the collaboration of the Hon. Málaga City Council, organize the XXXVI Málaga City Half Marathon; which will be held on Sunday 7 March 2027, at 8:15 in the morning.

The distance to be covered will be 21.097 km. on a circuit approved by the RFEA and World Athletics; in which any person, federated or not, may take part, provided they are 18 years old on the day of the race.

1. COURSE

This race is held under the road racing regulations of World Athletics and the RFEA, and is included in the race calendar of the RFEA and World Athletics. The course will be controlled and supervised by the Municipal Police, mobility officers and members of the Organization. In addition, every kilometre will be marked vertically and horizontally.

The road route for the 2027 edition is as follows:

2. WORLD ATHLETICS CALENDAR, RFEA AND JUDGES' CONTROL

The XXXVI Málaga City Half Marathon is included in the Worlds Athletics calendar, the RFEA calendar and the Andalusian Athletics Federation calendar and is controlled by the Provincial Judges Committee. Any claim shall be addressed to the Chief Referee of the race, up to 30’ after the announcement of the results.

The maximum time to complete the TotalEnergies Málaga Half Marathon is 3h from the official start of the last wave.

The TotalEnergies Málaga Half Marathon 2027 plans to carry out the start in waves in order to improve the comfort and safety of all runners, according to the order of accredited times.

The start of the race will be by waves, from 8:15 h, according to the following times:

  • At 8:15, athletes up to 1h 30’ will start
  • At 8:20, athletes up to 1h 45’ will start
  • At 8:27, athletes up to 2h will start
  • 8:35, athletes from 2h onwards will start

Race control will be closed successively when passing through km 5, 10, 15, 20 and Finish, with a maximum time of 40’; 1h:20’; 2h:00’; 2h:40’ and 2h: 50’, respectively from the start of the last runner. When a participant exceeds the planned closing time, they will be overtaken by the vehicle indicating the end of the race, so they must abandon the race or, if they continue, they will do so under their sole responsibility and must comply with traffic rules and signs, like any other road user.

Refreshment points will be installed at kilometres 5.5; 10.5; 13, 15.5; 18 and Finish with water and/or isotonic drinks.

The Organization has Medical Service.

The Organization has a baggage check service near the Start area.

Any clarification of the regulations of this race will be made by the Race Organization.

Any manipulation, alteration or falsification of the personal data of the registered athlete will result in imminent disqualification.

The bib number may not be cut or folded and must be placed on the athlete’s chest, completely extended.

All officially registered participants will be covered by an Insurance Policy, arranged by the Organization, which will cover accidents occurring as a direct consequence of the event; and never as a cause of an ailment, latent defect, recklessness, negligence, failure to observe the laws and the articles of these Regulations. This insurance does not cover accidents occurring while travelling to and from the place where the race takes place.

The Organization is not responsible for any damage that participants may cause or suffer through their own recklessness or negligence. Likewise, the participant declares that they are in optimal physical condition to take part in this race and does so under their sole responsibility, exempting the Race Organization from all responsibility. Registering for this race implies full acceptance of these rules.

The only vehicles authorized to follow the race will be those designated by the Organization. The Local Police will sanction those drivers who fail to comply with these rules.

The categories, solely for the purpose of obtaining results, conform to those currently in force by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.

3. SUSTAINABLE HALF MARATHON

The Málaga Half Marathon will be held in an environmentally respectful way and, to achieve this, the collaboration of each and every participant is essential. Therefore, we send this information in order to facilitate your collaboration:

  • After the refreshment points there will be yellow containers located 30 and 100 metres from the refreshment point for depositing water bottles. If you decide to keep the bottle beyond 100 metres, you must keep it with you until the next station. In all cases, they must be deposited in the containers, they must NEVER be thrown on the ground.
  • At the finish line, there will be yellow containers distributed around the area for the same purpose.
  • Waste must be deposited in the containers, it must NEVER be thrown on the ground.
  • Respect for the environment: The Race passes through urban spaces that must be respected for the benefit of everyone.

4. REGISTRATIONS:

The Organization of the TotalEnergies Málaga Half Marathon establishes a maximum quota of 14,000 participants for the 2027 edition.

Registrations may be formalized as follows:

The registration opening date will be Friday 20 March 2026, until Monday 1 March 2027, or until the 14,000 available registrations are sold out.

4.1. PRICES AND TIERS:

Seven registration tiers are established, at the following prices:

  • First 2000 registrations or until 26 March 2026:
    • Standard registrations: 23 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 11.5 euros
  • From registration 2001 to registration 4000 or from 27 March until 13 May 2026:
    • Standard registrations: 28 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 14 euros
  • From registration 4001 to registration 6000 from 14 May until 30 June 2026:
    • Standard registrations: 33 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 16.5 euros
  • From registration 6001 to registration 8000 or from 1 July until 15 September 2026:
    • Standard registrations: 37 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 18.5 euros
  • From registration 8001 to registration 10000 or from 16 September until 2 December 2026:
    • Standard registrations: 41 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 20.5 euros
  • From registration 10001 to registration 12000 or from 3 December 2026 until 19 January 2027:
    • Standard registrations: 45 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 22.5 euros
  • From registration 12001 to registration 14000 or from 20 January until 1 March 2027:
    • Standard registrations: 50 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 25 euros
  • Registration at the Expo, if bibs are available (5 and 6 March):
    • Standard registrations: 70 €
    • People with disabilities (33%): 35 euros
  • Once bibs are sold out, registrations coming from the waiting list covering the withdrawals of registered runners will have a price of 70 € (standard registration) and 35 € for people with disabilities (33%).

* The cost of the Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) Day License, which is 4€, must be added to the registration price. This cost will be refunded at the Runner’s Expo to all those who prove they have a National Federation License in 2027. The desk for these refunds will be located next to the bib collection point, at the Solutions counter.

4.2 .CANCELLATION GUARANTEE:

Once registration has been formalized, the amount paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. At the time of registration, the runner may take out a cancellation guarantee for their registration, with two options, one of which must be selected when registering:

  1. I do not want any guarantee
  2. Standard cancellation guarantee. Cost of 5 €. Refund of 100% of the registration fee until 14 February 2027. After that date, registrations will be considered final.

General conditions of the cancellation guarantee:

  • The cancellation guarantee may only be taken out at the time of registration.
  • The amount of the cancellation guarantee is non-refundable in any case.

However, changes of ownership without this guarantee will be accepted until 14 February 2027 at a cost of 8 €.

Requests for cancellation and changes of ownership must be made via email to inscripciones@deporticket.com within the indicated deadlines.

4.3. REGISTRATION METHODS

Registrations may be made through the official website mediamaratonmalaga.com

4.4 .START IN PREFERENTIAL CORRAL

The runner must indicate at the time of registration the estimated time they intend to run, in order to access the corral corresponding to their time on the starting straight and avoid crowds as much as possible.

To access corrals for a time under 1h30’, it will be necessary to provide, at the time of registration, through a link to the athlete’s result on the official website, the time achieved in an official certified race in the last two years and corresponding to the corral time from which they wish to start.

In the event that the race has to be suspended because weather conditions make it advisable or due to force majeure (not attributable to the organizer), under no circumstances will the registration fee be refunded.

For any information regarding the status of the registration, modification and/or cancellation of it, this must be done through the email address inscripciones@deporticket.com

4.5. CONSIDERATIONS

  • Registration is personal and non-transferable and implies total acceptance of these regulations.
  • Once registration has been formalized, participation may only be transferred to another person with a change of ownership until 14 February 2027 at a cost of 10 € under the conditions established in these regulations.
  • T-shirt sizes will be delivered in strict order of bib-chip collection and according to the size requested at the time of registration. The Organization does not guarantee being able to deliver all participants the requested T-shirt size, since the production of the T-shirts starts long before the registration closing date.
  • Registrations will close before the planned deadlines if all available places are filled: 14,000 bibs.
  • The registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances, including injuries or work reasons, except for those who have taken out the cancellation and change of conditions insurance and under its conditions.
  • To prove disability status, it will be necessary to attach it at the time of registration through the registration form itself. Alternatively, a copy of the disability degree accreditation card may be sent by email to the same address.
  • From 0:01 on Tuesday 2 March 2027, no registrations will be accepted.

5. CATEGORIES

The following categories are established:

  • Overall M / F
  • Sub 20 M / F: Born in 2008 and 2009 (of legal age on the day of the race)
  • Sub 23 M / F: Born from 2005 to 2007
  • Senior M / F: Born from 2004 until Veteran (35 years old)
  • Master M 35 / F 35: From 35 to 39 years old
  • Master M 40 / F 40: From 40 to 44 years old
  • Master M 45 / F 45: From 45 to 49 years old
  • Master M 50 / F 50: From 50 to 54 years old
  • Master M 55 / F 55: From 55 to 59 years old
  • Master M 60 / F 60: From 60 to 64 years old
  • Master M 65 / F 65: From 65 to 69 years old
  • Master M 70 / F 70: From 70 to 74 years old
  • Master M 75 / F 75: From 75 to 79 years old
  • Master M 80 / F 80: From 80 to 85 years old
  • Master M 85 / F 85: Over 85 years old.
  • Athletes with wheelchair disabilities M/ F
  • Athletes with physical disabilities M/ F
  • Athletes with sensory disabilities M/F
  • Athletes with intellectual disabilities M/F

Note: All ages indicated must be reached on the day of the race.

6. COLLECTION OF BIB-CHIP AND OFFICIAL T-SHIRT

The collection of the bib-chip and official T-shirt will take place exclusively at the Runner’s Expo of the TotalEnergies Málaga Half Marathon, in a venue to be determined in Málaga, continuously on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March 2027, from 10:00 to 20:00 h.

To collect the bib-chip, runners must present the receipt or copy of the registration, together with their ID card, passport or other official document proving identity.

If unable to collect the bib in person, authorization must be given to the person collecting it, presenting a photocopy of the registered runner’s ID when collecting the bib.

The T-shirt will be delivered upon presentation of the bib-chip.

Important:

  • Runners may not request a different size from the one requested at the time of registration.
  • The organization does not guarantee being able to deliver all runners the size requested at the time of registration, because production takes place before registrations close.
  • Bibs and T-shirts will not be delivered on race day.
  • The bibs include a disposable chip, so they may not be folded or manipulated or altered in any way, including their advertising.
  • Race time will only be recorded if the bib-chip is correctly worn on the front of the torso.

7. RANKINGS. TROPHIES AND PRIZES

The following Rankings will be made:

  • Men’s and Women’s Overall General Ranking
  • Men’s and Women’s General Ranking of Athletes with Wheelchair Disabilities
  • Men’s and Women’s General Ranking of Athletes with Physical Disabilities
  • Men’s and Women’s General Ranking of Athletes with sensory disabilities
  • Men’s and Women’s General Ranking of Athletes with intellectual disabilities
  • Men’s and Women’s Ranking by age groups
  • Men’s and Women’s Spanish Ranking

A T-shirt will be awarded to every athlete who registers for the race, being handed out at the time of bib collection.

A commemorative medal of the race will be awarded to every athlete who finishes the race.

In the event that multiple or staggered starts are established, the age category rankings will be made using the official time from the moment their wave starts until the moment they cross the finish line

The first three in the General Ranking will obtain a trophy.

The first 3 in each category will obtain a trophy.

All runners who obtain any of the prizes established by the Organization must present their ID card or Passport at the time of collection.

7.1. PRIZES:

HALF MARATHON RECORD

SPANISH GENERAL RANKING

Men (minimum time: 1h 03’00”) Women (minimum time: 1h 11’00”)

  • 1st. 1,000 € / 1st. 1,000 €
  • 2nd. 500 € / 2nd. 500 €
  • 3rd. 300 € / 3rd. 300 €

These prizes are cumulative with those of the Individual General Ranking and will only be paid when the achieved time is under 1:03:00 for men and 1:11:00 for women.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • If the athletes do not achieve the minimum required time, the cash prize will be reduced by half.
  • The half marathon record prize will be awarded only to the winner and will be cumulative with the rest of the prizes.
  • The presentation of an identity document will be essential in order to collect the prizes.
  • All cash prizes are subject to the withholdings established by Law and to the recognition of the time by the RFEA.
  • The prizes for the general ranking, national ranking and race record will not be paid until the results of the anti-doping control are published.
  • If a prize winner tests positive, they will be disqualified and will lose the prize, and the ranking will move that position up.

Any participant born in Spain will be considered a Spanish athlete.

Any participant born in Andalusia will be considered an Andalusian athlete.

Any participant born in Málaga will be considered a Málaga athlete.

ALL TROPHIES NOT COLLECTED ON THE DAY OF THE RACE WILL REMAIN AT THE DISPOSAL OF THE ORGANIZATION, AS IT WILL BE UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY ARE WAIVED.

7.2 PUBLICATION OF RANKINGS AND CLAIMS

The provisional rankings will be published on a board set up by the Organization next to the finish and/or podium area, as well as on the official event website, these being the sole and exclusive responsibility of the members of the RFEA Judges Committee. They will also subsequently be published on the official website.

Claims affecting positions in the ranking with prize money shall be submitted in writing to the Chief Referee within a maximum period of 30 minutes from the publication of the rankings, who will deal with the claim.

Other claims must be sent in writing to the Organization’s email: info@mediamaratonmalaga.com, to the attention of the Chief Referee, before the Wednesday following the holding of the race.

The Organization will communicate the resolutions of the Chief Referee within a maximum period of 10 days, after which the rankings will be considered final. Therefore, all trophies and prizes will be provisional until that moment.

7.3. DISQUALIFICATIONS

Grounds for disqualification will be:

  • Providing false personal data in the registration (name, surname, age…).
  • Not completing the full course.
  • Not passing through the checkpoints located on the circuit.
  • Not wearing the bib clearly visible on the chest or altering or hiding its advertising.
  • Running with the bib and/or chip assigned to another runner.
  • Not following the instructions of the judges and/or Organization staff.
  • Having lent the bib to be photocopied and used by another runner.
  • Refusing to undergo doping control.
  • Displaying unsportsmanlike behaviour.
  • Any other behaviour included in the applicable federation regulations.
  • In addition, the race medical service and the chief referees are empowered to remove from the race any athlete showing poor physical condition.

8. SERVICES OFFERED TO RUNNERS

REFRESHMENTS

The race will have liquid refreshments at kilometre points 5.5; 10.5; 12.5, 15.5, and 18, in addition to liquid and solid refreshments at the finish line.

BAGGAGE CHECK

Runners may use a free baggage check service, located near the start, where they may leave their belongings in a bag, with the Organization not being responsible for the items deposited. The service will be available from 6:45 in the morning on Sunday 15 March.

Organization staff may request the opening of the bag or backpack to check its contents. Refusal will result in rejection of custody of the bag or backpack.

TOILETS

Portable toilets will be installed in the Start and Finish area of the race.

PHOTO REPORT

All participants who wish may purchase photographs of their participation in the race.

INSURANCE

All participating runners are covered by civil liability insurance and accident insurance, in accordance with current legislation.

The Organization declines all responsibility for physical or moral damages that an athlete may cause to third parties during participation in the race.

PACERS

The Málaga Half Marathon will have duly identified pacers for each of the following times: 1h25’, 1h30’, 1h40’, 1h50’, 2h00’

OFFICIAL APP

Both runners and their family members, friends and the general public may download the Official App of the race free of charge, available on Google Play and App Store, from where it will be possible to follow half marathon participants in real time, check the bib number or stay informed about everything happening around the race: latest news, course, regulations…

VIDEOS

All participants will be able to download the finish line video free of charge, available on the official website in the days following the race.

OFFICIAL DIPLOMA

The official diploma, showing the general position, category position, official time and average pace, will also be available for download, free of charge and through the official website, in the hours following the race.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

The Organization has the necessary medical services to assist the runner during the development of the races.

The Organization recommends that all participants undergo a medical examination prior to the race, with every participant accepting the risk arising from the sporting activity.

Any athlete with health problems is obliged to notify the Organization in advance and in writing, mark their bib with a red cross and state on it their name, address, telephone number and the health problem they suffer from.

9. WHEELED DEVICES AND CONTRAPTIONS

The use of any wheeled device or contraption during the race is not permitted, except wheelchairs of disabled athletes registered in the wheelchair category, approved by the RFEA, and officially admitted by the Organization.

Participants in wheelchairs must compulsorily wear an approved helmet.

10. AUTHORIZED VEHICLES

The circuit is closed to all vehicles. The only vehicles that may follow the race will be those accredited by the Organization.

It is totally forbidden to follow the runners in any type of motor vehicle or on wheels (skates, bicycles, etc.).

11. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

All participants, by the mere fact of registering, accept these regulations and the rules of WA, the RFEA and the FAA. In addition, they give their consent so that the Organization of the Málaga Half Marathon, by itself or through third parties entrusted under a data processing contract, may process by computer and for exclusively sporting, promotional or commercial purposes, their personal data, as well as their image within the race by means of photographs, videos, etc.

For the purposes of the current legislation on the protection of personal data, participants are informed that the personal data and official photographs of the Málaga Half Marathon will be incorporated into a file owned by Málaga Sport Ad and Sport Life Ibérica SA, organizers of the event; with the sole and exclusive purpose of using them for the purposes requested in the registration form.

The participant may exercise their right of access to these files in order to rectify or cancel partially or totally their content. To exercise this right, they must request it by mail to info@mediamaratonmalaga.com, attaching a photocopy of their ID.

In case of doubt regarding any circumstance that may arise, the criterion of the Organization shall prevail.
